Bits and pieces of the puzzle as to the problems we are having with our elder population. First off, there are not enough places for the elderly to go when they can’t stay home alone, and many of them are unaffordable to the average person. Secondly, real estate developers got wind of the shortage of spaces and put their money in developing large assisted living facilites. They put their money in, and then get out as soon as they can. They don’t care what goes on in the building. I call it warehousing the elderly.
I was told along the way that I approached this whole topic backwards. Backwards? The explanation was that I cared about what happened to the people in the building, and just don’t have a building yet. I have been told that the more correct way, which has been causing trouble is to build the building and have someone else worry about it.
